Trinity wins battle of nail bitters

G#1:  Trinity, 8-7

TUM earns win powered by 4-run 3rd & 7th innings;

Bill Bosworth (2B), Mike Ruthenberg (2B) & Mike Farr

(2-run HR) account for team's runs in 3rd, while Dave Avery (1B),

Ruthenberg (1B), Andy Janes (2B) & Brad Kratzer (1B)

knock in tallies in 7th;

Down by 4, Zion rallies for 5 in 6th;

Rick Nelson doubles in 1st run, Dan Meyer then plates pair with

his 2-out, 2-bagger & Jessie Sundemeier clears bases\

with a 2-run shot;

ZL ups lead to 7-4 in 7th on a Nelson double & a

Jim Hansen single, but Trinity storms back a half frame later;

Nelson finishes with 4 deuces

G#2:  Trinity, 8-7

Teams battle to 4-4 game after 3 frames before TUM

breaks open over 4th & 5th with 4 runs;

Trinity gets 2 in 1st on 2-out RBI hits by Janes (3B)

& Brad Kratzer (1B), & 2 more in 3rd on a Farr triple

& a Dana Kratzer 2-out single;

ZL gets pair in each of 1st 2 innings as Nelson knocks in a

couple with a double in opening at bat & Brian Burrell

does same in 2nd with 2 outs;

Trinity's run in 4th scores on a double by Bosworth;

Gary Manning (2B), Avery (1B) & Ruthenberg (2-out 1B)

follow with RBI hits in 5th;

Zion chips away with single scores in 6th (RBI double by Meyer),

8th (RBI double by Sundemeier) & 9th (2-out RBI triple by Nelson),

but comes up just short, stranding tying run at 3rd;

Brad Kratzer, Dave Avery & Nelson each manufacture 4 hits

in finale with Nelson stroking 3 more doubles;

Ruthenberg chips in 3 hits as does Burrell;

Both clubs combine for 35 safeties (19 by TUM)

G#3:  Zion, 5-4 (11 innings)

Sundemeier's 2-out HR in 11th proves to be game winner;

TUM takes a 2-0 lead into 6th after Janes collects a pair of

2-out singles in 3rd & 5th stanzas;

Zion counters with 4 in 6th with Meyer, Sundemeier (2 RBI)

& Todd Geisbuhler connecting with run-scoring doubles;

TUM ties game in its 6th on 2-out RBI hits by

Avery (3B) & Bosworth (1B);

Geisbuhler (2-2B), Janes (2B), Avery (3B) & Dan Saygers

(of TUM) each post 3 hits;

Units combine for 91 hits over series, including 48

by Zion (16 in each game)

Zion falls to 8-10; Trinity climbs to 9-9

SR comes through with 1st series win of season

G#1:  SR, 7-5

Down 2-0 after 3 innings, B#2 puts 3 on board in 4th

(all after 2 out) & another in 5th to go up 4-2

before SR puts up a 5 spot in its 5th to take lead for good;

Ed Boelkens goes 4-for-4 from line to pace hosts;

Lori Dewyre (1st), Jeremy Orth (2 RBI in 5th) & Rick Lees (5th)

all collect run-scoring triples;

Doug Brough knocks in SR's last marker with a with a single in 5th;

B#2's Travis Ford hits a run-scoring double in 4th prior to

RBI singles by Duane Peters & Pepper Martin;

Ken Finley hits a RBI triple in 5th for B#2, while teammate

Mike O'Brien has a RBI single in 7th;

Russ Abke has 3 hits for B#2

G#2:  SR, 2-1

Finley plates B#2's lone run of game with his RBI 3-bagger

in 7th that gives team a short-lived 1-0 cushion;

SR responds with 2 in 8th as Larry Michel ties contest

with a triple & then Orth delivers a RBI single for what

proves to be winning hit;

O'Brien goes 5-for-5 to lead both sides

G#3:  B#2, 6-2

Peters gives guests a 2-0 lead in 1st on a 2-run triple;

Peters has another RBI triple in 3rd that puts club up for good;

O'Brien contributes another run-scoring 3-bagger in 6th;

Peters & Rick Cajka (2-2B) turn in 3 hits apiece

with Cajka's double in 4th plating a run;

Martin has B#2's other RBI with a deuce in 3rd;

Boelkens paces SR with 3 more hits;

Dewyre has a RBI triple in 1st & Steve Kurfess follows

in 2nd with a solo HR that ties game at 2-2

B#2 falls to 9-9; SR improves to 5-13

NR equals SGU for league-leading 5th series win of season

G#1:  PM, 4-1

PM scores 2 runs in 1st & is never headed as Tom Jividen (3B)

& Alex Ward (1B) collect RBI hits in opening frame;

After a Dave Snyder solo HR for NR in 2nd, PM adds 2

more runs in 7th on 2-out RBI singles by Darren Pash & Jividen;

Rick Ward (2B) & Pash lead PM in hits with 3 each

G#2:  NR, 10-6

Down 1-0 after a half inning of play, NR scores 3 times in

its 1st to take lead for good, all on a Gary Chamberlain 2-out HR;

NR puts contest away with big 7-run 6th as Chamberlain

drives in 2 more on a triple;

Dave Snyder follows with a solo HR, Keith Roberts hits a 2-out

RBI 3-bagger & Rich Lopez brings Roberts home with a single;

Stev Bockbrader has a bases-loaded single 3 shooters later;

PM rallies for 4 in 7th on 7 singles, including RBI safeties

by Pash, Tom Jividen, Alex Ward & Paul Spicer;

PM then cuts deficit to 3 in 8th on a 2-out RBI triple by

Tom Jividen, but can't get any closer;

Alex Ward accounts for PM's 1st run with a 2-out RBI double;

Rick Ward & Bob Jividen each collect 4 hits for PM, while

Spicer contributes 3 including a double;

Adam Snyder (2B) & Chamberlain (E in 4th) both post

3 hits for NR;

Both teams combine for 33 hits (18 by PM)

NR comes from behind twice to earn win in finale;

PM takes a 2-0 lead in 1st on RBI singles by Spicer

& Alex Ward (with 2 away);

NR ties game in 3rd on back-to-back 2-out, RBI hits

by Sonny Castillo (3B) & Adam Snyder (1B);

PM regains lead in 3rd on Pash's 2-out RBI triple;

NR secures lead for good with 3 in 5th frame on 6 singles

with Bockbrader, Russ Siek & Ron Primeau driving in runs;

NR tacks on 1 more tally in 6th on Bockbrader's 2-out, RBI deuce;

Pash leads both sides with 5 hits;

In addition to his triple, Pash pass collects 4 walk-hits in 2nd,

5th, 6th & 8th innings;

Tom Jividen adds 4 "normal" singles;

Four NR players -- Lopez, Adam Snyder (2B),

Bockbrader (2B) & Primeau -- produce 3 hits each;

Both squads put up 17 hits apiece

BGN wins tight series on road against PP

G#1:  PP, 6-5

Kim Tezak's 2-run, walk-off HR with 1 out in 9th

wins it for PP;

Tezak finishes with 3 RBI, also hitting a lead-off bomb in 3rd;

Jim Jones goes 5-for-5 for home team;

Bernie Blasius brings in 3 Naz runs with a 2-run

triple in 5th & another RBI 3-bagger in 7th;

John Troutt's lead-off HR in 8th brings PP to within a run

G#2:  BGN, 7-6

Brendan Yowler's 2-out, RBI triple in 9th gives

BGN a walk-off victory in middle contest;

Trailing 6-2 after 6, Naz rallies for 4 in 7th to tie game

on RBI hits by Michelle Lewis (lead-off HR), Lish McIntosh (2B)

& Mike Barbour (2-run 2B);

Barbour & Lewis each produce 2 RBI for game;

Steve (2B, 2-3B) & Julie (2-2B) Williams both knock

in a pair of tallies for PP

G#3:  BGN, 6-3

BGN builds a 4-0 lead into 6th on RBI doubles by Barbour

(3rd inning), Mark Armbruster (3rd), Blasius (3rd)

& Mickey Gore (4th);

PP rallies on Julie Williams' 2-run HR in 6th &

Will Tezak's RBI triple in 7th, but BGN puts game away

with pair of runs in 9th on a Yowler RBI triple & a Barbour single;

Yowler ends finale with 4 hits (2B, 3B), while Barbour

concludes with 2 RBI & 3 hits (2B)

BGN improves to 12-6; PP slips to 5-13

B#1 takes pair from red hot BGC to draw even in standings

& win 4th consecutive series

G#1:  B#1, 7-3

B#1 goes in front 3-0 in 1st on 6 singles, including RBI

hits by Ken Rahe, Ken Sieving & Jim Fields;

Rahe goes 4-for-4 with 3 RBI thanks in part to a pair of

run-scoring triples in 2nd & 6th stanzas;

Scott Samson & Luther Henline have RBI deuces in 6th;

Dave Helm & Fields (2B, 3B) end with 3 hits each;

Ron Merritt has a 2-run triple for BGC in 4th

to cut score to 4-2;

Rick Traver closes out BGC's scoring with a double in 8th

G#2:  BGC, 6-5

Jerry Charles wins it for BGC with 2-out in 9th

with a walk-off double;

Down 5-3 in T-9th, pinch hitter Dean Schuerman ties

game for B#1 with a 2-out, 2-run HR;

BGC's Ben Peters & Traver both hit 2-run HRs in 6th inning,

giving BGC a 5-3 advantage;

Sampson belts a 2-run bomb in 5th for B#1,

breaking a 1-1 deadlock;

Fields puts B#1 on board 1st with a 2-out, bases-loaded

single, but BGC quickly ties score on a Seth Peters 2-out deuce

a half inning later;

Craig Kleine of BGC (2-2B) & Harry Reynolds of B#1 (2-2B) lead their respective teams with 3 hits each

G#3:  B#1, 7-3

B#1 gets out to a 5-0 advantage after 5 innings

before BGC gets on board in 6th;

Samson goes 4-for-4 to pace hosts, including a RBI double in 6th;

Reynolds chips in 3 hits in 3 trips with a pair of RBI

2-sackers in 4th & 6th after hitting a lead-off HR in 3rd;

Rahe connects with another RBI triple in 5th;

Vic Schuerman drives in 2 on with his HR in 4th;

BGC scores all 3 of its tallies in 6th

with 2 outs with Traver (solo HR) & Seth Peters (2-run HR)

accounting for runs

BGC dips to 11-7; B#1 jumps to 11-7

Young's 2-out HR in 3rd puts SGU in front for good;

Gene Fairbanks (1B in 2nd), Charles Krawetzke (2B in 4th),

Bob Dierker (lead-off HR in 5th) & Bob Marsh (2B in 5th)

Dierker (3rd inning) & Bowe (8th inning);

Young (3rd), Gary Evers (8th) & Fairbanks (9th) hit solo HRs;

Dierker finishes with 3 RBI, including a run-scoring

triple in 9th;

Evers (2B, E, HR) & John Schulte (2B) lead SGU in hits with 3;

Krawetzke has SGU's other RBI with a double in 4th;

Cheryl Kurfess knocks in all 3 BGSM runs with her

2-out HR in opening frame
