 5 visiting clubs prevail

New Rochester (2) at BG Trinity United Methodist (1)

NR stops Trinity series winning streak at 3;

Teams split season series, 3-3

G#1:  NR, 10-4

Adam Snyder drives in 4 for NR  on 2-run doubles in

both 2nd & 3rd innings;

Gary Manning hits a grand slam in 8th for TUM;

NR builds 10-run lead before Manning blast

G#2:  BGTUM, 6-2

Trinity scores 4 in T-9th to break 2-2 deadlock;

Mike Farr collects a pair of RBI triples in 6th & 9th frames;

Jim Dobson has 4 hits in losing effort

G#3:  NR, 4-0

Dobson adds 4 more hits to finish night with 11, including

a RBI triple in 4th which stands as winning hit;

Lyle Schroeder hits a 2-run HR in 7th

NR ups ledger to 34-29; Trinity slips to 32-31

Pemberville Methodist (3) at BG St. Mark's (0)

PM keeps rolling with 6th series win in last 7 weeks &

8th victory in last 9 games;

PM wins season series, 6-0, & runs overall win streak to 5

G#1:  PM, 14-0

PM pounds out 32 hits, including 6 by Darren Pash & 5 each

from Bob Jividen, Dan Binion & rookie Brian Richardson;

Tom Jividen has 3 RBI as does Richardson

G#2:  PM, 6-3

Down 2-1 in 5th, PM scores 3 to take lead for good;

Pash has 4 hits to pace PM, while Binion knocks in 3;

Larry Weiss goes 5-for-5 with 2 RBI for BGSM

G#3:  PM, 8-4

PM never trails in this one, building a 5-0 lead before

BGSM gets on board in 6th on Larry Zimmerman's 3-run bomb;

Pash has 5 more hits, including a walk single in 9th;

Bob Jividen drives in 3 on his HR in final stanza;

Pash ends night with 15 hits, while Binion has 11;

Weiss totals 10 on night for BGSM

PM vaults to 38-25; BGSM tumbles to 20-40

Hard-luck SR stops series losing string at 4;

Teams split season series, 3-3

G#1:  SR, 4-3

Trailing 3-1 entering 8th, SR puts 3 on board for win;

Doug Brough has a RBI double & Jessica Orth a 2-run HR

in SR's comeback inning;

Harry Reynolds accounts for 2 of B#1's runs with his

HR in 2nd that gives team an early lead;

Ed Boelkens, Jigs Sandwisch & Larry Michel all have 3 hits for SR

G#2:  B#1, 9-3

Jim Fields plates 5 of B#1's tallies in this one with a

bases-load triple in 1st, a solo HR in 3rd & a RBI 3-bagger in 9th;

Five B#1 runs in 1st is more than enough to carry through to victory

G#3:  SR, 8-6 (10 innings)

SR takes a 3-run lead into last of 9th, but B#1 rallies to

force extra innings on a Fields 2-out RBI triple & a

Harry Reynolds 2-run blast;

SR answers right back in 10th with back-to-back 1-out

solo HRs by Fred Swihart & Steve Kurfess;

Jeremy Orth has 4 hits for SR, including a pair of

2-RBI triples in 3rd & 5th innings;

Fields finishes game with 2 RBI, including solo HR in 2nd,

& ends series plating 7 teammates

SR moves to 20-40; B#1 falls to 32-31

BGN wins 2nd ever WCDL regular-season title

after winning 3rd consecutive series;

BGN now takes a 4-game victory streak into final week of season

G#1:  BGN, 5-4

Tied 3-3 entering 9th, BGN rookie Scott Atkinson drops

in a 2-run HR for deciding hit;

Kevin Miller & Jody Yowler pace guests with 3 hits each;

Miller also adds 2 RBI on his double in 2nd;

Jerry Charles hits a 2-run bomb in 2nd for BGC to knot score at 2;

Craig Kleine's solo HR in 8th rallies BGC back from a 1-run deficit;

G#2:  BGN, 5-2

A lead-off HR by Michelle Lewis in 5th snaps a 1-1 deadlock

& gives BGN lead for good;

Kleine accounts for both BGC runs with solo center

strikes in 4th & 9th frames;

Luke Armbruster has 2 RBI for BGN with a double in 6th;

Kleine has 2 of BGC's 3 hits

G#3:  BGN, 10-0

BGN's offensive comes alive & BGC again struggles to

produce hits as visitors pull off sweep;

Mickey Gore paces BGN with 3 hits & 3 RBI;

Gore has a RBI double in 2nd, a 2-run HR in 5th &

adds another deuce in 9th, scoring on wife Julie's RBI 2-sacker;

Yowler also has 3 hits, including consecutive solo HRs

in 3rd & 4th innings;

BGC ends game with just 6 hits, but Ron Merritt shines with

a perfect 4-for-4 effort from line;

BGN raises mark to 43-20; BGC drops to 34-29

Bethlehem #2 (2) at Salem Grace United (1)

B#2 collects 6th win in last 10 games, while SGU

drops 4th straight series;

Squads divide season match-up, 3-3

G#1:  SGU, 4-0

Hosts break a scoreless game in 5th on a Bob Marsh

RBI single which stands as deciding safety;

Garry Evers drives in SGU's last 2 runs in 7th on a HR,

his 1st of 4 on night;

B#2 musters only 3 hits

G#2:  B#2, 10-9

John Keiser's 1-out, walk-off, 2-run HR in 9th gives

B#2 a much-needed victory in middle game;

Up 8-4 after 7 innings, B#2 sees its lead evaporate when

SGU scores 4 in 8th to tie & then another single tally in 9th

to take a short-lived lead;

Bob Dierker & Evers both hit 2-run bombs in 8th &

Chris Lockoski connects on a RBI double in 9th, his team's

only run produced without a HR;

SGU ends game with 5 HRs, including a

Charlie Krawetzke 2-run blast in 4th;

Mike O'Brien paces B#2 with 4 hits & Duane Peters adds 3;

Keiser ends game with 4 RBI, including another

2-run HR in 5th to put club up by 4 in 5th;

Peters & Ken Gerwin both plate 2 runs with Peters hitting

a 2-run triple in 1st & Gerwin stroking a 2-run double in 3rd

G#3:  B#2, 6-3

Gerwin's grand slam in 4th caps a 5-run inning for B#2

& proves to be difference in game;

B#2 starts frame tied at 1-1, but a O'Brien single puts

team up for good & 3 batters later Gerwin deals a crushing blow;

Keiser leads B#2 hit wise with 3 doubles;

Jim Bowe knocks in 2 of SGU's runs with RBI doubles in

1st & 5th innings;

Evers caps off evening with his league leading 31st HR in 9th

B#2 improves to 34-29; SGU dips to 32-31

Zion Luckey (2) at Pemberville Presbyterian (1)

Zion, winners of 11 of last 15 games, takes 5th straight series

& moves into 3rd place

G#1:  ZL, 8-3

Brian Burrell, Rick Nelson & Mike Hoelter all have 4-hit games

in helping Zion total 21 safeties in opener;

Nelson has 3 doubles & a triple in knocking in a pair of runs;

Burrell strokes 2 doubles, while Hoelter drives in 3,

including a RBI triple in 7th to cap ZL's scoring;

Andy Lang also chips in 2 RBI;

Julie Williams blasts a 2-run HR in 6th & another solo

bomb in 9th to pace PP

G#2:  PP, 7-6

PP builds a 7-1 lead in middle game, but holds on for win;

Steve Williams sparks PP's attack with a solo HR in 3rd

to tie game at 1-1 & then smashes a 3-run center finder

in 5th to put PP up by 5;

Chris Tezak also has 3 RBI for PP with a 2-run double in

5th & a RBI triple in 6th for squads final run;

Tezak ends game with a team-best 3 hits;

Burrell has 5 of Zion's 17 hits;

Dick Eilert, Lang & Dan Meyer have 3 RBI apiece;

Down to its final out, Eilert drills a 2-run HR to bring

Zion within a run;

ZL gets 2 more singles after Eilert's HR, but team's

rally falls just short

G#3:  ZL, 9-4

Zion continues to hit well in finale with 21 more hits;

Burrell, Moenter, Nelson & Lang all record 4 hits each

with Nelson & Land also driving in 4 apiece;

Nelson strokes 4 doubles, including 2-run deuces in both

6th & 7th innings;

Lang produces back-to-back 2-RBI doubles in 5th & 6th;

Nelson's last double gives team a 9-1 lead;

Jim Jones goes 3-for-3 for PP with a RBI double;

Burrell ends series with 13 hits

Zion moves to 35-28; PP falls to 21-42
