 behind 1st-place BG Nazarene

 Red-hot BGN runs winning streak to 10; 

 Bethlehem #1 & #2, BG Trinity United

 Pemberville Presbyterian also earn series wins 

Bethlehem #1 (2) at Salem Grace United (1)

B#1 wins 9th series in last 11 attempts

G#1:  B#1, 11-1

B#1 comes out slugging with Dave Helm leading way with

6 hits, while Steve Kreais & Luther Henline add 5 each;

Henline, Ken Rahe & Melvin Karns all drive in 3 runs apiece;

A Gene Fairbanks HR brings in SGU's lone run

G#2:  B#1, 7-6

After SGU scores 3 in T-9th to take a 6-2 lead, B#1 rallies

for 5 runs in its 9th for a walk-off victory;

Down by a pair, Andrew Kreais hits a 2-out, 3-run bomb to win it;

Kreais ends game with 4 RBI on 2 long balls

G#3:  SGU, 2-1

Hosts salvage win in finale with Gary Evers' 2-run HR

in 5th inning proving to be winning hit

B#1 improves to 23-16; SGU slips to 22-17

Zion Luckey (0) at BG Nazarene (3)

BGN wins 4th straight series to stay in 1st place

G#1:  BGN, 4-1

Kevin Miller has 3 hits for BGN, including a RBI triple

in 4th that breaks a 1-1 deadlock;

Miller also adds a RBI single in 6th;

Bernie Blasius & Todd Nienow also have RBI singles for hosts;

Nienow finishes with 3 hits as does Zion's Mike Moenter

who knocks in his team's lone run

G#2:  BGN, 13-8

Both teams combine for 46 hits with BGN garnering 25,

including 5 from Jody Yowler (3-2B) & 4 each from

Brendan Yowler (2B) & Lish McIntosh (3-2B);

Brendan Yowler leads team with 3 RBI;

8 BGN players have at least 1 RBI, including Jody Yowler,

Mark Armbruster & McIntosh who plate 2 apiece;

Dick Eilert has 5 hits to pace Zion, while

teammate Mike Hoelter has 4 with 2 RBI;

Dan Meyer hits a grand slam in opening stanza to cap

Zion's 5-run start;

ZL builds an 8-4 advantage after 5, but BGN scores 1 in 7th,

3 in 8th to tie & goes in front with a big 5-run 9th

G#3:  BGN, 10-4

Blasius has 4 hits for BGN to go along with 2 RBI;

Jody Yowler drives home 3, including a 2-run HR in 7th that

breaks open a 5-4 game;

Again, a balanced offensive attack sees 7 BGN players

bring home 1 or more runners;

Brian Burrell has 3 RBI for Zion with all coming on

his 6th-inning bomb;

Jim Hansen accounts for ZL's other run with a solo HR

Zion drops to 19-20; BGN goes to 27-12

Pemberville Presbyterian (2) at New Rochester (2)

PP captures 1st series victory since mid-November

G#1:  PP, 7-3

Alan Troutt drives in 5 runs thanks in part to his

grand slam in 6th inning that puts team in front for good;

Troutt also has a RBI double in 8th;

Ron Curtis hits a 2-run bomb in 2nd for PP;

Jim Dobson knocks in 2 of his club's runs with a 2-run

HR in 2nd frame;

Will Tezak of PP reaches twice on error hits

G#2:  NR, 6-3 (10 innings)

Gary Chamberlain's 3-run HR in 10th inning snaps a

3-3 deadlock & propels NR to victory;

Chamberlain also has a RBI double in 4th as part

of his 4 RBI game;

Lyle Schroeder's solo HR puts NR ahead 3-2 in T-9th,

but PP's Dale Fahle forces extras with his lead-off

center marker a half inning later;

Tezak & Steve Williams hit solo shots for PP in 8th

G#3:  PP, 6-5

Trailing 3-0 in 3rd, Dave Snyder's bases-loaded bomb

gives NR upper had for 1st time;

Down 5-4, PP ties game in 8th on Chris Tezak's RBI double

& then produces winning run in 9th on

Chester Griswold's 2-out RBI triple;

Snyder ends game with 5 RBI, including a run-scoring

deuce in 7th that gives NR its last lead;

Curtis has 3 RBI for PP on a 2-run HR in 2nd & a RBI double

in 7th, while Troutt & Tezak also produce RBI 2-sackers

PP moves to 13-26; NR falls to 19-20

BG St. Mark's (1) at Bethlehem #2 (2)

B#2 falls just shy in sweep bid, but claims 2nd straight series win

G#1:  B#2, 7-3

B#2 blows open a 4-3 game in 7th with 3 runs;

Ken Gerwin & John Keiser both hit HRs, with Gerwin

pacing squad with 2 RBI;

Mike O'Brien & Russ Abke both collect 3 hit for victors

G#2:  B#2, 12-5

B#2 turns in another strong offensive showing in middle game;

B#2 scores early & often, eventually building an 8-0 lead;

BGSM makes things interesting with a 5-run, 4 HR 7th inning;

A 2-run blast by John Kunstmann comes 2 shooters before

consecutive center finders by Scott Seeliger, Mark Henning &

Larry Zimmerman;

Ken Finley of B#2 leads both sides with 5 hits & O'Brien (3B)

adds 4 with a pair of RBI;

Keiser drives in 4 on a 2-run HR in 3rd &

a 2-run double in 8th;

Pepper Martin sparks a 4-run 1st with a 2 RBI 3-sacker

G#3:  BGSM, 3-1

BGSM takes a 3-run lead into 9th & escapes as a B#2

rally ends with bases loaded;

Mark Henning (solo HR in 3rd) & Tom Lemmerbrock

(2-run HR in 4th) account for BGSM's runs;

Martin has team's lone RBI & O'Brien

churns out 3 more safeties

BGSM slides to 12-27; B#2 ups mark to 22-17

BGC pulls off 3rd sweep of season & 1st since Week #4

G#1:  BGC, 8-6

Seth Peters has a pair of RBI triples for BGC

en route to a 3-hit game;

Ralph Aufdenkamp hits a 2-run HR for hosts, while

Craig Kleine & Caleb Peters add solo shots;

Lori Dewyre (3B) & Fred Swihart (HR) knock in 2 runs each

for SR with Dewyre & Ed Boelkens collecting 3 hits apiece

G#2:  BGC, 3-1

BGC breaks a 1-1 tie in 7th on RBI hits by Aufdenkamp (3B)

& Rick Traver (1B);

Traver & SR's Rick Lees both have 3-hit contests to pace

their respective clubs;

Paul Wachter belts a solo HR for BGC & Jeremy Orth

has a RBI triple for SR to open each team's scoring

G#3:  BGC, 6-5

Orth hits a 2-run triple for SR in 9th, but team's rally falls short;

Caleb Peters has 3 hits for BGC, including a double & solo HR;

Jerry Charles knocks in 2 runs for BGC on a 2-run

3-bagger in opening frame;

Traver hits a solo HR in 5th to break a 3-3 deadlock

& give BGC lead for good;

Boelkens has 4 hits for guests, while Orth (3 hits) &

Dewyre plate 2 runs each on triples

SR tumbles to 10-29; BGC raises record to 24-15

Pemberville Methodist (1) at BG Trinity United (2)

TUM claims 4th straight series, while PM drops 3rd in a row

G#1:  TUM, 4-3 (10 innings)

Mike Farr's 2-out, walk-off triple in 10th wins it for Trinity;

Brad Kratzer ties game for TUM with 2 outs in 9th with

his run-producing triple;

Gary Manning (HR in 3rd) & Mike Ruthenberg (1B in 5th)

collect Trinity's other RBI hits;

PM scores all 3 of its runs in 8th on 6 singles to take a 3-2 lead;

PM's Dan Binion leads both sides with 4 hits has 1 of team's

RBI safeties in 8th along with Darren Pash & Tom Jividen

G#2:  TUM, 11-10 (12 innings)

Both offenses perk up in combining for 47 hits;

Pash (2 RBI) has 7 of PM's 27 safeties, while teammates

Rick Ward (RBI) & Bob Jividen (3 RBI) have 5 & 4, respectively;

Trinity sees a 9-2 lead evaporate with PM eventually tying

game in 8th at 10-10 with 4 runs;

Brad Kratzer's 1-out HR in 12th stands as winning hit;

Farr (2-3B) & Kratzer (2B, HR) both finish game with 3 RBI

to equal Binion & Jividen;

Ruthenberg & Andy Janes (HR) each post 4 hits for

hosts with Ruthenberg & Dana Kratzer knocking in 2 runs each

G#3:  PM, 11-3

PM salvages win to lay claim to rivalry's highly coveted,

but mythical, Methodist Cup with a 4-2 mark in season series;

PM scores all of its runs over 2 innings with 5 in 5th & 6 in 7th;

During those frames, PM bangs out 17 of team's 25 hits for game;

5 PM players (Pash-5; Tom Jividen-5; Rick Ward-4; Binion-4;

Alex Ward-4) stroke at least 4 hits & register 2 RBI;

TUM actually takes a 2-0 lead in 1st on RBI hits by

Farr (3B) & Ruthenberg (1B);

Ruthenberg concludes game's scoring with a solo HR in 9th;

Dave Avery ends contest with 4 hits for TUM

PM dips to 22-17; TUM improves to 21-18
