 series victories to maintain share of 3rd

BG Trinity United (2) at New Rochester (1)

Trinity snaps 2-week losing streak & climbs to .500,

while NR drops 4th straight series

G#1:  BGTUM, 3-0

Trinity scores twice in 3rd on 2-out RBI hits by

Bill Bosworth (3B) & Mike Ruthenberg (1B);

TUM then adds a single tally in 9th on Gary Manning's

2-out solo HR to secure win

G#2:  BGTUM, 5-4

Down 3-1, Trinity puts 4 runs on board in 4th on 7 singles

to take lead for good;

Bosworth, Mike Farr, Andy Janes & Brad Kratzer all

produce bases-loaded hits in big inning;

Sonny Castillo & Gary Chamberlain both have 2-out

RBI triples for NR in 3rd, while Rich Lopez hits a solo bomb

in 5th to make it 5-4;

Chamberlain ends game with 2 extra-base hits;

Janes gives TUM a 1-0 lead in 1st on his 2-out RBI deuce;

Stev Bockbrader's run-scoring single in 3rd

accounts for NR's other run

G#3:  NR, 4-1

Hosts build a 4-0 through 8 innings before Trinity

spoils shut-out bid in 9th on Dave Avery's 2-out RBI double;

Dave Snyder gives NR a 1-0 lead in opening frame via

a RBI double & team adds 2 more tallies in 3rd on

Jim Bockbrader's 2-out triple;

A Stev Bockbrader lead-off center strike in 8th

gives NR a 4-run cushion entering final stanza;

Avery & Manning lead TUM with 3 hits each with

Manning scoring TUM's lone run after doubling in 9th;

Stev Bockbrader also has 3 safeties for NR

BGTUM evens ledger at 15-15; NR drops to 14-16

BG St. Mark's (0) at Pemberville Methodist (3)

PM wins for 9th time in last 10 games to move to

within a game of 1st-place SGU

G#1:  PM, 6-5

In only competitive game of series, BGSM grabs a quick 4-0

only 6 batters into contest;

John Kunstmann hits a bases-loaded triple & scores

on Roger Hayward's follow-up single;

PM gets a run back in 3rd on Paul Spicer's 2-out RBI triple &

then draws even with 3 tallies in 5th, 2 coming on a

Darren Pash 2-out, 2-run triple;

Tom Jividen's RBI single ties game at 4-4;

Another Spicer 2-out RBI triple in 7th puts PM up for good &

Grace Jividen adds a much needed insurance run

in bringing Spicer home with a single;

A Cheryl Kurfess solo HR in 9th cuts deficit to a run, but

BGSM later strands tying runner at 2nd base;

Pash leads both sides with 3 hits;

Kunstmann ends game with a pair of triples as does Spicer;

Kurfess hits a double to go along with her HR

G#2:  PM, 8-1

It's all PM in middle game as PM builds a 7-0 lead before

BGSM can get on scoreboard;

Rick Ward & Pash both register 6 hits, while

Bob Jividen & Grace Jividen reach safely 4 & 3 times, respectively;

PM has 24 hits as a team;

Pash brings home 3 runs on a double in 5th, a triple in 6th

& a single in 7th;

Bob Jividen drives in 2 on a pair of singles in 6th & 7th;

Ward (3B) & Tom Jividen (1B) account for PM's other markers

with RBI hits in 6th;

Tom Lemmerbrock plates BGSM's only run with a single in 7th;

Hayward leads his team with a pair of deuces

G#3:  PM, 16-2

Pash goes 8-for-8 with a double, 2 triples & 4 RBI;

He ends series with 17 hits (2-2B, 4-3B, 9 RBI),

including 14 straight to finish evening;

Ward records 2nd straight 6-hit contest &

concludes 3-game set with 14 safeties (3B, 3 RBI);

Bob Jividen belts a grand slam in 6-run 2nd inning,

contributing to his 10-hit, 6-RBI night;

He has 4 hits in finale as does brother Tom (3B, 2 RBI),

while Spicer (2B, 3 RBI) has 3;

PM scores in all but 1 inning (5th) & bats around 3 times

albeit with just 7 players as a previously sidelined

Brockschmidt returns to series lineup;

PM strokes 29 hits & ends Monday's onslaught with 67;

Marilyn Shepperd (lead-off HR in 6th) & Dave Otte

(2-out, solo HR in 9th) have 2 of BGSM's 5 hits

BGSM tumbles to 9-21; PM jumps to 19-11

B#1 wins 7th series in last 8 weeks to remain 2 games

behind league-leading SGU

G#1:  B#1, 8-4

A balanced B#1 hitting attack leads to victory as 4 players

(Dave Helm, Ken Rahe, Mel Karns & Andrew Kreais)

each contribute 4 hits of team's 20;

Jim Fields knocks in 3 runs for B#1, including a 2-run triple

in 3rd to put squad ahead 4-0;

Fields also has a 2-out, bases-loaded single in 1st;

Kreais plates a pair on a RBI double in 3rd &

a lead-off HR in 8th;

Karns (1st), Luther Henline (8th), Rahe (8th) also have

bases-loaded singles during course of game;

Ed Boelkens paces SR with a game-high 4 hits, while

Jigs Sandwisch & Jeremy Orth chip in 3 apiece;

Sandwisch has RBI triples in 5th & 7th frames,

scoring both times on singles by Orth

G#2:  B#1, 3-2 (11 innings)

Vic Schuerman ends it in extras with a 1-out, walk-off RBI double;

SR scores both of its runs in 1st on RBI hits by

Orth (3B) & Lori Dewyre (1B);

B#1 battles back to tie game with single tallies in 7th & 9th;

Scott Samson's 2-out, run-scoring triple makes it 2-1 in 7th;

Down to team's last out, Helm hits a clutch RBI double

to force extra innings;

Karns leads both sides with 3 hits;

Kreais reaches on a pair of 2-sackers & scores winning run in 11th

G#3:  SR, 4-1

Trailing 1-0 entering B-7th, SR erupts for 4 runs to earn win;

Fred Swihart's 3-run bomb starts rally & concludes

with a Boelkens 2-out, RBI triple;

Henline's 2-out, run-producing 3-bagger in 5th gives

B#1 a 1-0 lead, but squad can score no more despite

loading bases in 1st & 8th frames;

Henline ends game with a team-high 3 safeties

B#1 improves to 18-12; SR falls to 8-22

BGN draws even with BGC in standings with series win;

Both squads stand 2 games out of 1st place

G#1:  BGN, 10-4

Naz bangs out 20 hits with Mark Armbruster going

5-for-5 with 3 RBI;

Jody Yowler, Mike Barbour (2B, 3B, 2 RBI) &

Lish McIntosh (2 RBI) also chip in 3 hits each in winning cause;

Bernie Blasius hits a solo HR in 1st & BGN never trails,

building leads of 5-0 & 8-1;

Rick Traver paces BGC with 3 hits;

Craig Kleine hits a solo HR in 6th to snap BGN shut-out effort;

Ralph Aufdenkamp hits a pinch-hit RBI double in 8th

for BGC & Seth Peters soon follows with a 2-run HR

G#2:  BGC, 8-7 (11 innings)

BGC wins it in 11th on Kleine's 2-out, walk-off

solo HR after Seth Peters sends game into extras

in 9th with his 2-out, 2-run bomb;

BGN goes up 3-0 in 4th, but BGC ties game on Paul Wachter's

3-run center strike in 5th;

Trailing by 2, BGN ties game at 5-5 in 7th & tacks on single

runs in 8th & 9th frames before Peters ties game with his HR;

Kevin Miller, Yowler (RBI) & Barbour (2-2B, 3B, 2 RBI)

lead BGN with 4 hits apiece;

McIntosh drives in pair, 1 coming on a lead-off HR in 8th;

Kleine (2B, HR) collects 3 straight hits to end game;

Ben Peters (2-2B plus a RBI 3B in 6th) & Ron Merritt

equal Kleine for team leadership in hit department;

As a team, BGN manufactures 19 more hits

G#3:  BGN, 7-2

McIntosh gives BGN a 1-0 lead in 5th on his 2-out RBI triple;

Naz extends cushion to 6 runs in 5th with a 5-run inning;

Blasius hits a 2-run double, Barbour has a RBI deuce

& Armbruster hits a 2-run HR all in 5th;

BGC's lone runs come in 7th on a Jim Meyer 2-run HR;

Blasius ends scoring in 8th with a 2-out RBI triple;

Blasius (2-2B, 3B, 3 RBI), Armbruster (HR, 2 RBI) &

Miller (2B) each contribute 3 hits for BGN;

Naz ends series with 54 hits

BGC drops to 18-12; BGN raises mark to 18-12

Salem Grace United (2) at Bethlehem #2 (1)

SGU wins league-best 8th series of year & 3rd straight

G#1:  SGU, 5-1

Guests hit 4 HRs over game's initial 4 innings en route to win;

Don Young belts a 2-out bomb in 1st, Charlie Krawetzke

smacks a lead-off HR in 2nd & Chris Lockoski hits a solo

blast 2 batters later to make it 3-0;

Krawetzke hits another lead-off HR in 4th & drives in

SGU's final run with a double in 6th;

Kit Keiser's lead-off HR in 3rd is all B#2's offense can muster;

Mike O'Brien & Rick Cajka of B#2 combine for 6 of team's

8 hits with 3 apiece;

Krawetzke has 3 hits for SGU, while teammate Jim Bowe

produces a pair of doubles

G#2:  B#2, 10-6

B#2's offense comes alive in middle game, aided by 24 hits

with 5 coming off Ken Finley's steady hand;

B#2 jumps out to a 7-0 lead in 3rd & never looks back;

Travis Ford (1B), Duane Peters (1B) & Pepper Martin (2B)

all have RBI hits in 1st with Martin bringing home 2;

Peters adds another RBI single in 2nd;

Cajka hits his first of 2 RBI triples for game in 3rd;

Finley has RBI singles in 3rd & 7th

(scoring Cajka both times after he triples);

Ken Gerwin HRs in 9th for B#2's  10th run;

Peters finishes contest with 4 singles, while

O'Brien, Cajka & Ford contribute 3 hits each;

Gene Fairbanks knocks in 2 of SGU's runs with a pair

of RBI doubles in 4th & 9th innings;

Krawetzke (4th), Lockoski (9th) & Bob Marsh (9th)

also have run-scoring doubles for Salem;

Evers nets SGU's 1st run with a solo HR in 3rd

G#3:  SGU, 7-4 (10 innings)

Visitors strike for 3 runs in 10th on a pair of HRs

to break a 4-4 deadlock;

Bob Dierker severs tie with a solo bomb & then Krawetzke

connects on a 2-out, 2-run HR 3 batters later;

John Keiser's 3-run HR in 4th evens score at 3-3 after

SGU scores once in 3rd (RBI double by John Schulte) &

twice in 4th (lead-off HR by Bowe; 2-out, solo HR by Krawetzke);

Bowe hits his 2nd solo HR in as many at bats in 6th to give

SGU a 4-3 advantage;

Gerwin's 2-out RBI triple in 8th knots score at 4;

Bowe (2B, 2-HR) & Krawetzke (2-2B, HR) both produce

3 hits & 2 RBI for SGU, while Schulte has a pair of 2-baggers;

O'Brien again has 3 hits for B#2 as does Martin (2-2B);

SGU has 12 extra-base hits for game & finishes series

with 30 (of team's 31 total hits), including 10 HRs

SGU moves to 20-10; B#2 slips to 16-14

Zion wins 3rd consecutive series to reach .500 mark

G#1:  ZL, 12-2

Dick Eilert, Curt Juergens, Mike Hoelter & Jessie Sundemeier

each have 3 hits for Zion;

Eilert finishes game with 4 RBI with 3 coming on a HR in 2nd;

Eilert also has a RBI single in team's 5-run 7th stanza;

Sundemeier hits a 2-run bomb in 6th following a

RBI single in 2nd;

Sundemeier also has a part in 7th-inning rally with a

RBI single & ends contest with 4 RBI;

PP goes up 2-0 in 2nd on back-to-back jacks by

Ron Curtis & Dale Fahle, but Zion scores game's last 12 runs;

ZL concludes opener with 21 hits

G#2:  PP, 5-4

Zion's rally in 9th comes up just short as PP escapes with win;

Like in opener, PP goes up 2-0 in 2nd on RBI hits by

Jim Jones (2B) & Will Tezak (1B) & extends advantage to

3 runs in 4th on Tezak's 2-out, RBI 2-bagger;

Zion cuts score to 3-2 on 2-out, bases-loaded singles by

Mike Moenter & Andy Lang in 8th;

PP gets those tallies back in its half of 8th with Jones

& Tezak duplicating their efforts in inning No. 2;

Zion comes within a run again in 9th on Eilert's 2-out,

2-run HR, but can't pull even;

Tezak nets 4 hits (3 RBI), while Jones &

Brent Welch (2B) have 3 apiece

G#3:  ZL, 7-5

Lang's 2-out, RBI double in opening inning puts Zion on board 1st;

PP, however, posts all 5 of its runs in 4th on a 3-run HR by

Steve Williams & 2-out RBI doubles by Julie Williams & Tezak;

After PP's rally, Zion chips away with 2 in 4th, 1 in 5th

& 3 in 7th for win;

Eilert brings in 2 with a 2-out triple in 4th, Sundemeier has a

2-out bases-loaded single in 5th & then Eilert, Juergens &

Moenter register 2-out RBI singles in 7th;

Zion strokes 20 hits & ends series with 52;

Juergens leads team's effort in finale with 4, while Eilert,

Brian Burrell & Sundemeier each have 3;

Welch leads PP attack with 3 hits, including a double

PP settles at 10-20; Zion goes to 15-15
