 over BGC Cloverdale & BG Nazarene; 

 Pemberville Methodist inches 

 closer to leaders, drawing even with

BG St. Mark's (1) at Pemberville Presbyterian (2)

PP wins 2 games despite playing series with just

5 players (2 auto outs);

PP series victory is 2nd on campaign & 1st since Week #3

G#1:  PP, 2-0

Both teams struggle, combining for just 5 hits with PP

collecting 3 (all after the 6th inning);

Jim Jones' 2-out, 2-run HR in 8th proves to be

all PP needs for win

G#2:  PP, 3-2

A Chris Tezak HR in 9th breaks a 2-2 deadlock for PP;

Keith Miller & Scott Seeliger have RBI doubles in 2nd for BGSM;

Steve Williams draws PP to within 2-1 in 2nd with his RBI deuce;

Julie Williams ties game in 5th with a solo center strike

G#3:  BGSM, 3-2

Todd Kurfess' 2-out RBI double in 8th

breaks a 2-2 tie for BGSM;

Larry Zimmerman gives BGSM a 1-0 advantage in 2nd

with his 2-out, RBI triple & Roger Hayward makes it 2-0

in 4th after his 2-out solo HR;

PP evens score in 7th on 3 doubles, including run-scoring

hits by Jones & Steve Williams

Both teams finish series with a combined 31 hits,

including  just 14 by BGSM;

Jones has 6 (2B, HR) of PP's 17 safeties,

while Tezak has 5 (4-2B, HR);

Kurfess leads BGSM's woeful offense with 4 hits

BGSM tumbles to 8-16; PP raises ledger to 8-16

Salem escapes with 2 wins at Trinity for league tying

G#1:  SGU, 7-5 (10 innings)

SGU gets 2 in 10th on Don Young's 2-out, 2-run double;

Jim Bowe & Gary Evers hit solo HRs in 5th & 7th

innings, respectively;

Bowe also chips in a pair of doubles;

Bob Dierker has 3 extra-bases hits, including a RBI triple in 1st;

Down 2-0, TUM scores 4 in 3rd, including run-scoring

triples by Bill Bosworth & Mike Farr (2 RBI);

Brad Kratzer also has a RBI triple in 8th to tie game at 5-5

G#2:  TUM, 10-6

Tied at 2 after 2 innings, TUM erupts for 5 in 3rd

to take lead for good;

Bosworth (3B), Dave Avery (1B), Mike Ruthenberg (3B),

Farr (1B) & Andy Janes (3B) have consecutive RBI hits

in triple-single beauty;

Kratzer hits a 2-run shot in 5th to boost lead to 9-3

after Evers hits a solo HR for SGU in 4th;

Ruthenberg has 4 hits (3B, 2 RBI) for TUM, while

Avery (3B) & Kratzer (HR) equal Ruthenberg in RBI;

John Schulte hits 3 doubles for SGU

G#3:  SGU, 4-3

Trailing 3-2 entering 6th, SGU strikes for 2 runs on

Chris Lockoski's center finder;

Farr's 2-run, 3-bagger in 3rd ties contest at 2 & Dana Kratzer

follows an inning later with a lead-off HR putting TUM up by a run;

An Evers RBI double in 2nd & a 2-out, solo HR by

Young in 3rd stakes SGU to a 2-0 lead

SGU betters mark to 16-8; BGTUM drops to 12-12

Confident BG Cloverdale stays hot, winning 6th series in 7 weeks

G#1:  BGC, 6-3

Ron Merritt's RBI single in 6th breaks 3-3 tie &

BGC never looks back en route to victory;

Merritt (RBI single in 4th) & Seth Peters (2-run HR in 7th)

both knock in 2 runs for hosts;

Merritt finishes with 3 hits as does Mike O'Brien &

Ken Finley of B#2;

Pepper Martin plates 2 in 5th on a double for B#2

to even score at 3-3

G#2:  BGC, 5-0

Paul Wachter has 3 RBI to pace BGC to win;

Wachter hits a solo shot in 6th to start a 3-run rally;

Wachter adds a RBI double in 7th & another solo strike in 9th;

Seth Peters has BGC's other 2 RBI with a 2-run bomb in 6th

G#3:  B#2, 5-4 (10 innings)

Martin's 2-out, solo HR in 10th stands as game-winner

after team ties it in 9th on Rick Cajka's 2-out, RBI 2-bagger;

Four different players hit solo HRs for BGC -- Rick Traver

(lead-off in 1st), Wachter (lead-off in 3rd), Ralph Aufdenkamp

(in 7th) & Caleb Peters (in 8th);

Peters' HR puts BGC up 4-3;

Martin leads both sides with 3 hits (2B, HR)

B#2 slips to 13-11; BGC goes to 15-9

Zion Luckey (2) at Bethlehem #1 (1)

ZL snaps B#1's series winning streak at 5

G#1:  B#1, 6-5

B#1 ties it in 9th on Dave Helm's solo HR & then wins it

3 batters later on Ken Rahe's walk-off triple with 2 outs;

Luther Henline, Rahe (2-3B, 2 RBI) & Steve Kreais

all have 3 hits for B#1, while Curt Juergens, Rick Nelson

(2-2B, RBI) & Jim Hansen do same for Zion

G#2:  Zion, 8-6 (10 innings)

Juergens' 2-out, 2-run, walk-off triple makes

Zion victorious in extras;

Down to its last out in 9th, Zion's Andy Lang ties

game with a solo bomb after Jim Fields gives B#1 a

6-5 advantage in T-9th with his RBI triple;

Henline has a game-high 5 hits in addition to a RBI,

while Helm has 4 safeties;

Hansen has 4 hits (RBI) for Zion;

Fields (2B, 2-3B) & Juergens have 3 RBI apiece to pace

their respective squads

G#3:  Zion, 12-3

Dick Eilert leads Zion with 5 hits, including a triple,

& knocks in pair in team's 23-hit attack;

Leading 1-0 after 1st, Zion puts game away with

a mammoth 6-run 3rd highlighted by a bases-loaded

double by Nelson;

Nelson finishes game with 3 RBI & 2 doubles;

Brian Burrell (RBI), Mike Moenter (2-3B, 2 RBI)

& Dan Meyer (2-2B, HR, 2 RBI) each contribute 3 hits for ZL;

Harry Reynolds hits a 2-run deuce for B#1

Zion improves to 11-13; B#1 dips to 14-10

BGN takes hard-fought series en route to 15th win of season

G#1:  BGN, 5-4

Consecutive 2 out doubles by Jody Yowler, Brendan Yowler (RBI)

& Mike Barbour (2 RBI) rally BGN to victory in 9th

G#2:  BGN, 10-8 (10 innings)

BGN gets 3 tallies on 4 doubles in 10th & holds on for win;

Scott Atkinson, Todd Nienow & Barbour deliver RBI deuces

in extra time;

NR ties game at 7-7 with 4 runs in 8th on 2-run doubles by

Lyle Schroeder & Keith Roberts

Jody Yowler & Barbour (2-2B, 3 RBI) both finish with

4 hits as does Jim Bockbrader (2B) for NR

G#3:  NR, 6-0

Adam Snyder knocks in 5 of his team's tallies on a RBI

single in 1st, a 2-run double in 3rd & a 3-run bomb in 8th;

Stev Bockbrader drives in NR's 1st run with a triple in 1st;

Jim Bockbrader again produces 4 hits (2B) to lead both sides

NR settles at 12-12; BGN raises slate to 15-9

PM comes out on top in a trio of 1-run affairs;

PM's 3rd sweep of season pulls club to within 2 games

of 1st place SGU

G#1:  PM, 11-10

G#2:  PM, 7-6

G#3:  PM, 3-2

SR slides to 6-18; PM jumps to 14-10
