Zion comes out slugging in 12-1 win in opener;
Andy Lang has 2 solo HRs & 3 RBI for hosts, while
Dick Eilert (2 RBI, 2B) & Mike Moenter (2 RBI)
produce 4 hits apiece;
Rick Nelson adds 3 doubles (RBI) in team's 22-hit attack;
Both offenses struggle in G#2 with Zion claiming 2-0 victory;
ZL scores single runs in 7th (Nelson RBI single)
& 8th (Eilert RBI double) for only scoring of game;
Nelson leads Zion to 5-3 win in finale with 3 RBI doubles;
Alan Troutt hits 2 solo HRs & 2 doubles for PP;
Troutt finishes series with 5 hits & 3 RBI;
Eilert leads Zion with 8 series hits (2-2B) to go along with 3 RBI
& Nelson paces club in RBI with 5 on 7 hits (6-2B)

B#2 takes series in battle of 1st-place squads
John Keiser remains on roll for B#2, producing 4 HRs
(including another grand slam) & a bases-loaded triple
en route to 12 RBI on night (all in his first 11 at bats);
Keiser now has 9 HRs for season (4 slams) & 29 RBI;
B#2 takes opener 8-5 with Keiser's 3-run bomb in 1st
giving team lead never lost;
Keiser's lead-off error in 7th starts 3-run uprising in which
Kit Keiser's 2-RBI double proves to be winning hit;
Father John ends scoring with a solo HR in 8th;
B#2 lays down lumber in G#2 with a 13-1 victory;
John Keiser's 3-run triple in 1st sparks a 5-run frame;
Keiser adds a solo blast in 4th & then connects on
a grand slam in 6th;
Not to be overshadowed (but were), B#2's Mike O'Brien (RBI, 2B)
& Rick Cajka (RBI, 3B) both have 5-hit games;
B#1 controls finale from start, but has to hold on for 6-5
win as B#2 records 4-run 8th to make things interesting;
Dave Helm's solo HR in 7th stands as deciding run;
Helm also has an RBI triple in 1st;
Vic Schuerman hits a 3-run center shot in 6th for B#1

BGC grabs pair in exciting series
BGC claims opener, 8-7, as Ben Peters breaks deadlock
in 10th inning with solo HR to complete shooting cycle;
Peters hits single in 2nd, double in 4th, triple in 6th & double in 8th
before his winning blow to finish 5-for-5 with 3 RBI;
Seth Peters also drives in 3 on a pair of HRs;
Mike Barbour (RBI, 2B) leads BGN with 4 hits;
In G#2, BGC takes another squeaker, this time, 7-6;
Ben Peters adds 3 more hits (2 RBI), including a solo
HR in 7th which holds up as winning hit;
Barbour again paces BGN with 3 RBI coming on a double & triple;
BGN avoids sweep in G#3 with a 5-3 victory;
Tied at 1-1 entering B-6th, BGN strikes for 4 consecutive
1-out solo HRs by Mickey Gore, Lish McIntosh,
Brendan Yowler & Kevin Miller to break game open;
BGC moves to within 1 run in 8th on a Paul Wachter
2-run bomb after a Jim Meyer walk, but can't force extras

SR takes opener, 2-1, thanks to Myrl Bretz's 2-run double
in 5th that puts hosts on board first;
NR closes to within a run in 9th on Jim Bockbrader's RBI
double, but team can't get equalizer;
SR takes another 1-run game in middle contest, winning 5-4;
Rookie Larry Michel's 2-out RBI triple in 9th
breaks a 4-4 deadlock & holds up as winning hit;
Michel finishes with 4 hits & knocks in 3;
Jeremy Orth also has 4 hits (RBI) for SR, including 2 triples;
In G#3, SR erases an early 1-0 NR lead with game's next
5 runs & cruises to 6-3 win;
Jigs Sandwisch produces 5-for-5 game (2B, 3B) with 2 RBI,
while Ed Boelkens has 4-hit finale;
Stev Bockbrader has 2 doubles, a triple & 2 RBI for NR

PM gains share of 1st place with sweep of short-handed TUM
PM takes opener, 6-5, behind 4-hit games from
Rick Ward & Darren Pash;
Pash drives in 4, including a 2-run triple;
Making his WCDL debut, PM's Chris Jordan gets
a hit in his first 4 at bats;
Mike Farr has a pair of RBI triples for Trinity;
PM claims G#2 by score of 7-1 as Alex Ward leads
victors with 5 hits (2B, 3B) & 3 RBI;
PM breaks open 1-run game with 5 tallies over 6th & 7th innings;
Rick Ward adds 4 more hits, including a double;
Rick Ward has 5 hits (HR) for PM in 7-5 G#3 win
to conclude night with 13 safeties;
Pash finishes with 9 hits & 5 RBI, while Alex Ward
also knocks in 5 on 8 hits;
Jordan collects 7 hits (3B) & 2 RBI (both in G#3) in his
first career series;
Dana Kratzer leads Trinity with 2 RBI in finale & 5 for evening;
Brad Kratzer paces TUM with 7 series hits (2 RBI, 2B, 3B);
Trinity played with an automatic out for all 3 games & has
done so for but 1 1/2 games this season
