BG Nazarene wins battle for 6th place with Stony Ridge;

SR ends at .500 after posting 21 wins in 2nd half;

PP concludes year with series victory over Bethlehem #1;

Zion wins twice to earn 4th place;

New Rochester registers 2nd sweep of season;

Salem Grace United ends year with 4th straight series win

Hosts power way to win thanks to 9 extra-base hits;

Sonny Castillo registers a pair of RBI doubles & a 2-run

HR to finish with 4 RBI & 4 hits;

NR grabs a 1-0 lead in 4th on Dave Snyder's 2-out,

RBI 2-bagger & then makes it 2-0 an inning later when

Castillo strokes his 1st double of series;

B#2 cuts deficit in half on a Travis Ford solo HR

with 2 down in 6th;

NR responds in 7th with a pair of tallies to put

game out of reach thanks to Castillo's bomb;

B#2 gets back in game with 2 runs in 8th to pull within a run;

Ken Gerwin delivers a 2-out RBI triple & Ford brings

him home with a single;

NR ices game in its 8th with a 4 spot on 5 hits;

Lyle Schroeder brings in a run with an error hit, Castillo

then plates another with a double & Jim Bockbrader

drives in last 2 with a double

Ahead 2-1 entering 9th, NR gets a pair of runs

of which seal victory;

Jim Dobson makes it 3-1 with a lead-off HR & then

Adam Snyder pushes margin to 2 with a 2-out, RBI double;

B#2 gets a run back in 9th on Ken Finley's 2-out, RBI

double, but can't push across any more;

Dobson accounts for NR's initial 2 runs in 4th with a HR;

Mike O'Brien knocks in B#2's 1st run on a 2-out, RBI triple in 7th

G#3:  NR, 4-3

NR puts together a late rally to pull out finale & claim sweep;

Trailing 3-2 in 8th, Castillo's 2-out, RBI single ties it;

NR then wins it in walk-off style when Schroeder touches

them all with a 2-out, solo HR in 9th;

B#2 produces all 3 of its runs in 2nd inning with Russ Abke

collecting an RBI single & Rick Cajka knocking

in a pair with a 2-out double;

NR gets those runs right back in its 2nd on Dave Snyder's

2-run center strike;

Castillo nets a series-best 7 hits & 5 RBI, while

Dave Snyder & Dobson both knock in 3;

O'Brien leads B#2 with 6 hits & has 2 RBI on night

Bob Dierker's RBI triple in 1st proves to be only run SGU needs;

Jerry Eschedor adds a lead-off HR in 3rd & Gary Evers

hits a solo shot in 7th to end scoring;

Rick Ward has 4 hits for PM

G#2:  SGU, 7-5

This game features 5 lead changes & 1 tie;

Down 4-3 entering 7th, SGU strikes for pair of tallies on

solo HRs by Don Taulker & Dierker to grab lead;

Arron Brockschmidt ties it at 5-5 in his club's 7th

with a 2-out, RBI triple, but SGU counters for 2 again

in 8th on a 2-out, 2-run bomb by Evers;

Evers also has an RBI double in SGU's 2-run 4th;

Gene Fairbanks & Jim Bowe account for SGU's opening

runs with RBI doubles in 1st & 4th frames, respectively;

Dierker has 3 hits for SGU, including 2 doubles to go with his HR;

Bob Jividen (2B) & Darren Pash (1B) get PM on board

in 2nd with run-scoring safeties;

Grace Jividen has an RBI triple in 5th & Brockschmidt

brings her home with a single to give PM a 4-3 advantage

G#3:  PM, 9-0

It's all PM in finale as Alex Ward drives in 3 on an RBI

single in 7th & run-producing 3-baggers in 5th & 9th;

Bob Jividen, Paul Spicer & Brockschmidt also

manufacture RBI triples in 7th stanza;

Pash, who churns out 4 hits, has an RBI single in 7th

as does Rick Ward;

PM breaks open a 2-0 game in 7th with 6 tallies;

SGU opens contest with a lead-off single, but goes hit-less

in its next 23 shooters before Fairbanks connects

with a double for team's only other hit;

Pash ends series with 10 hits (2 RBI) to wrap up another

league batting title with a .616 average;

Rick Ward has 7 hits (RBI) on night, while

Tom Jividen nets 6 hits (RBI);

Brockschmidt & Alex Ward lead team with 3 RBI each;

Evers, 1 of 3 SGU players with 4 hits, turns in a

series-high 4 RBI

Gary Manning provides TUM with its lone runs on his

1-out, 2-run HR in 5th inning;

Mike Ruthenberg leads both sides with 3 singles

G#2:  BGTUM, 4-0

Trinity breaks open a scoreless tie in 4th on

Dave Avery's 2-run triple;

TUM adds 2 more tallies in 5th on a Brad Kratzer RBI

3-bagger & a Dana Kratzer run-scoring single;

Avery ends contest with 4 hits & Dana Kratzer adds 3;

Keith Miller's double for BGSM is team's lone

extra-base hit of evening

In another offensively deficient game, Trinity scores

all 3 of its runs on 2-out, solo HRs;

Mike Farr hits a bomb in 1st, Dana Kratzer

belts a center finder in 4th & Dave Avery drops

in a middle marker in 5th;

For 2nd straight game, BGSM musters just 4 hits;

Dana Kratzer (2 RBI) & Ruthenberg each produce a series-best

6 hits for TUM, while Avery (3 RBI) has 5;

BGSM advances a runner past 1st base only once on night;

Larry Weiss has 4 of club's 13 total hits

G#1:  PP, 2-0

Will Tezak's 1-out, RBI triple in 1st inning

proves to be winning hit for PP;

John Troutt adds a 2-out, solo HR in 3rd;

Dave Helm leads B#1 with 3 hits, including a double

G#2:  PP, 7-4

PP rallies from a 4-0 deficit to earn win;

B#1 opens scoring with a 4-run 2nd frame on 7 hits,

including RBI singles by Steve Kreais, Dave Apgar,

Luther Henline & Ken Rahe;

PP scores in all but 1st, 2nd & 8th innings

en route to victory;

PP chips away with single runs in 3rd through 6th stanzas

to tie game & then snaps deadlock with 3 tallies in 7th;

Al Troutt's RBI triple puts PP ahead for good, while RBI

hits by Tezak (1B) & Steve Williams (2B) conclude scoring;

Curtis hits solo HR in 3rd, Al Troutt knocks in a run with

a 3-sacker in 4th & John Troutt produces a solo HR

Only a big, late-inning rally by B#1 prevents a

would-be sweep by guests;

Down 5-2 in 8th, B#1 efficiently erupts for 5 runs on 5 hits

with Andrew Kreais' 2-out, 3-run bomb being difference in game;

Dean Schuerman's RBI double makes it 5-3 & Steve Kreais

strokes a 2-out, RBI single to cut to a run;

PP goes up 2-0 in 3rd on Al Troutt's 2-run HR;

After B#1 cuts PP's lead to 1 in its half of 3rd on an

Andrew Kreais solo HR, PP goes ahead 3-1 in 5th on Williams'

run-producing double with 2 down;

B#1 gets back in game in 6th on a Jim Fields 2-out, solo HR,

but PP boosts advantage to 3 in 7th on a Williams

Curtis again paces PP, this time with 3 hits (2-2B) &

BGC survives Zion's 20-hit attack for win in opener;

BGC never trails in this 1 after taking a 2-0 lead in 1st

on RBI hits by Craig Kleine (3B) & Christian Peters (1B);

Visitors break 3-3 tie in 6th with 3 runs on Kleine's

2-run HR & a Ben Peters RBI triple;

BGC adds 4 in 7th on 2-RBI hits by Kleine (2B)

& Ron Merritt (HR) to go up by 6;

Zion rallies for 3 in 8th on RBI doubles by Jim Hansen &

Dan Meyer, plus an RBI single by Curt Juergens, but can't

get any closer than final score;

Paul Wachter has BGC's other RBI on his solo HR in 5th

to put club up 3-1, but ZL responds with pair in its half

of inning to knot score on RBI singles by Andy Lang & Hansen;

Nelson, who ends game with 3 doubles, plates team's

4th run in 6th with a 2-sacker;

Juergens leads Zion in hits with 4;

All 8 Zion players register at least 2 safeties each;

Rick Traver & Kleine pace BGC with 3 hits apiece

with Kleine collecting 5 RBI on a double, triple & HR

Dan Meyer sparks Zion charge with 5 of team's

18 hits, including 4 doubles;

Nelson hits 3 doubles, while Brian Burrell & Hansen

knock in 3 & 2 runs, respectively, to assist charge;

BGC holds a 4-1 lead entering 6th before Zion ties game

with 3 runs on RBI hits from Hansen (2B) & Burrell (2-run HR);

BGC gets lead right back with 2 in its 6th on a Ben Peters

RBI triple & a Paul Wachter RBI single;

However, ZL's 4-run 7th is difference in game as squad uses

5 doubles to score its runs with RBI hits coming from

Lang, Hansen, Burrell & Meyer;

Mike Moenter knocks in team's 1st run of contest on a triple in 3rd;

BGC jumps ahead 1-0 in 1st on a Jerry Charles solo HR

with 2 outs & then increases advantage to 2-0 on

Caitlin Davenport's 2-out bomb in next stanza;

Back-to-back blasts to lead off 4th by Kleine &

Christian Peters make it 4-1;

Merritt has 3 singles for BGC

Both team's agree to a game of HR Derby to close

regular season with Zion coming out on top;

Burrell leads ZL's center-strike attack with a pair

of bullseyes in 1st & 5th frames;

Nelson hits a 2-out bomb in 2nd & Lang proceeds

Burrell's HR in 5th with his own;

BGC manages just an "oops" double by Merritt with

2 outs in 8th for only hit of contest;

Burrell (2-2B, 3-HR, 6 RBI) & Meyer (7-2B, 2 RBI) top all

shooters in series with 8 hits apiece, while Nelson

(6-2B, HR, 2 RBI) produces 7;

No Zion player has fewer than 4 hits on night, including

Hansen (4-2B) who nets 5 with 4 RBI;

Merritt (2B, HR) leads BGC in hits with 6, while

Kleine (2-2B, 3B, 2-HR) has 5 hits & equals Burrell in RBI;

Zion wins 9th series of 2nd half of season & 5th in a row

BGN scores both of its runs in 7th on consecutive

2-out, RBI hits by Mark Armbruster (3B) & Mike Barbour (1B)

G#2:  BGN, 3-2 (10 innings)

Brendan Yowler ends it with a 1-out, walk-off, solo HR in extras;

Down 2-1 in 8th, Yowler ties score with a center strike;

SR takes a 1-0 lead in 5th when Fred Swihart goes deep;

BGN quickly ties game a half frame later on Jody Yowler's

RBI single, but SR grabs its last advantage of contest in 7th

on a Boelkens RBI triple

G#3:  BGN, 6-3

Barbour leads BGN with 4 hits & 2 RBI, including

a run-producing 3-bagger in 7th;

Jeremy Orth has a 2-run triple for hosts in his

team's 3-run opening stanza;

BGN responds with 2 runs in 2nd, 2 more in 3rd &

a single tally in 5th to secure victory;

Armbruster (3B) & Mickey Gore (1B) have RBI hits in 2nd;

Barbour & Brendan Yowler produce back-to-back RBI singles
